PETER'S HOME PAGE
Genealogies of families from Møre and Nordfjord, Norway, and from Nova Scotia, Canada and New England.
My father's family came from the Jangaard farm(see the Jangaard Home Page) on the island of Valderøy near Aalesund, Møre & Romsdal County, Norway. My grandfather, Capt. Peter M. Jangaard, married Anne Olsdtr. Valderhaug from one of the Valderhaug farms (Olagaren) on Valderøy. My great-grandfather , Kristian Nilsen Giske Jangaard came from Giske(Store-Nils-garen). We have numerous relatives on Valderøy and neighboring islands like Giske, Vigra, Godøy and Lepsøy. For more data on some of these families, see below.
Descendants of Sivert Sivertsen Røysa, Kristian's grandfather. Data include family names like Jangaard, Hanken, Remvik, Molværsmyr, Klokk, Sloghaug, Røsberg, Aase,Hage,Loe, Urkedal, Buholm, Ousland a.o.

Aerial photograph of some of the historic islands just to the west of Aalesund. Giske was the seat of Viking "Kings" and the Giske dynasty, "Giskegodset" dominated the economy of the region for several hundred years up to 1400-1500. The islands Valderøy, Godøy and Vigra are today connected to the mainland at Aalesund through deep undersea tunnels.
